Ceremonius

The flowers are dead now

The songs have long faded

The dress is in tatters

The vows have been shaken

The old became older

And the new took its place

The borrowed was returned

And the blue became gray

The money was spent

The cards were long trashed

The towels are worn

The picture frames cracked

The cake was devoured

The wine flow dried up

The mints were all savored

The champagne tops popped

The beautiful speeches were long since applauded

The decorations stripped down

The disco ball disassembled, boxed up

The waltzes and two-steps have bowed

Only memories are left

No union to show

No Happily Ever After

No perfect life

No love and no laughter

For the wedding day

It certainly happened

But the marriage itself

Was only imagined
